One, two, Oh My God!
Well, it's off to Vegas! Tonight is Cooper's bachelor party. I planned it and we've got about a dozen guys showing up for Cooper. Should be an OK time. Wish him luck...
Cafe racers rule!
I found this bike on the Ace Cafe London website. It's a huge gallery of cafe racers. Most of 'em are OK looking, but there are a handful that are really impressive. That Honda CB550 is a great example. I think it looks pretty sick for a 30+ year old bike.
For those who just don’t understand
This article touches on how it feels to ride a motorcycle and how hard it is to describe. It really is impossible to describe just how it feels to be out on the road with no thoughts in your head other than how to line up the next curve. Unless you're in love with it, you just can't understand. →
Goodbye to a mad genius.
Well, it looks like Hunter S. Thompson has taken his own life. I have been a huge fan of his since I read the first page of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". There just aren't enough public people who are so outspoken and brazenly honest. Hunter, you had a huge impact on so many people and →
Autistic Savant
This is an amazing story. Daniel Tammet is the first autistic savant with the ability to explain and describe how he is able to perform his amazing calculations. He speaks seven different languages and is in the process of developing his own. Absolutely amazing. I recently read a book called "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" →
Attack of the Scramblers
OK, I know the idea of racing 40 year old 160cc 16HP motorcycles seems dumb, but these guys up in Seattle may actually be on to something. They're taking pre-1968 Honda CB160s and CL160s and racing the crap out of 'em. I saw an article on it in CycleWorld and man, that just looks like fun. You →
Beck
Went to see Beck last night at club 1650 in Hollywood. It was an unannounced show with about 500 people there. Smaller than the Roxy. It was cool to see him in such a small venue, but the crowd was too much for me. I hate being surrounded by so many rude, drunk assholes. We only →
Napa
Miranda and I spent the weekend wine tasting in Napa Valley. It was awesome. We stayed at a B&B in Yountville, which is right in the middle of the valley. By far, my favorite place we went was the Prager Port Works. Miranda doesn't typically like port, but was very impressed with what we had there. →
OK, how retarded is this?
Thunderstar has a 3 cylinder turbo diesel motorcycle that puts out 90HP and 150ft.lbs . of torque, stock. With a performance chip it's at 120hp and over 200 ft lbs. ThunderStar TDI Motorcycle
What a couple of days…
Man, the last couple of days have been so hectic. Just started a job with Universal, and I've been picking up time with some other clients too. It's great, but I feel like I haven't had any time to relax. This weekend Miranda and I are going to Napa for Valentine's Day to do some serious relaxation and →
You fucking vagina
Here's a message to one of the boys (I won't say who) that might not make it to Cooper's bachelor party. This sums it up... Download file
Finished rebuilding the carbs
I finallly finished rebuilding the carburetors. I boiled 'em, cleaned them up completely, painted the bodies black, installed a complete rebuild kit and put on pod filters. The look awesome. Carb rebuild kits for '77 & '78 CB750s are hard to find. If you use the link up there and search for part number KH-1157N you →
My brother is a hippie
Well, it's official. My brother Nick is a dirty, stinky hippie. He just bought a 1974 Volkswagon Westfalia. Of course, it's bright camper-van orange. I helped him put a new camper canvas on it this weekend, and watched him spend 8 hours sewing new curtains for it. He's working pretty hard on it for a →
Song of the Sausage Creature
This is a killer little essay by Hunter S. Thompson reviewing a Ducati 900cc Super Sport from Cycle World Magazine. "There are some things nobody needs in this world, and a bright red, hunchback, warp-speed 900cc caf? racer is one of them -- but I want one anyway, and on some days I actually believe I need one. That is why →
Map
I'm trying to find a decent map of this area. Definitely in line for my next ride. I'm having trouble finding something that shows enought detail though -- too lazy to go get my thomas guide out of the car. Anyway, looks like a good half day loop from Little Tujunga up to Soledad, over to Big Tujunga, and →
Another awesome Malibu weekend
Had a great weekend riding. I met a couple people over by where the 101 hits Las Virgines canyon on Saturday morning. We did Piuma Canyon, some of Mullholland, and wound up at the Rock Store. Sunday I headed out myself and did the same route again. It's just awesome when you're out in the canyons with →
